How do I provide evidence with Competency Based Assessment? Print E-mail

The key to success is not to undertake any assessments until YOU feel ready.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I confident I know what skills have to be demonstrated?
  • Do I have a clear understanding of the assessment task?
  • Can I meet the performance criteria for this element?

If the answer to all the above is yes, then undertake the assessment.

If you can’t answer ‘yes’ to all three questions, then don’t undertake the task until you can.

If you are confused about what you need to do, don’t panic … but don’t rely on the advice of well meaning friends or peers either. Contact your facilitator and discuss the assessment task with him/her-that way you’ll know exactly what’s required and you won’t waste your time and energy on tasks that may not be necessary.

Should you find yourself in a situation where you haven’t met the performance criteria, try not to see it as a rejection. You haven’t failed. All it means is that your skills are not yet at the required standard. Ask your facilitator-or workplace supervisor-where your weaknesses are and then work to improve them.
