Graduating with the Diploma in Remedial Massage will boost your career prospects.

Diploma are now the requirement for obtaining health fund provider numbers, these include Medibank Private and Workcover.  Provider numbers are vital to sustaining a successful practice and gaining employment.  In the future, Diplomas will be the entry requirement for most massage and natural therapy associations, and Certificate IV will be phased out.

This qualification provides the skills in Remedial Massage practice and covers the provision of treatment to clients with specific needs.  You will be able to work in a:

  • Business and corporate sector
  • Private Clinic with provision for Health Fund Rebates
  • larger health service alongside chiropractors, physiotherapists, naturopaths and other health care professionals
  • complementary or medical service providing injury management and rehabilitation
  • national and international sporting environment

Occupational titles may include:

  • Remedial Therapist
  • Remedial Massage Therapist
  • Remedial Massage Therapy Practitioner

 

With the focus on outcome-based massage, students acquire a wide range of practical and professional skills.  This allows them to individually assess each client, develop hypotheses and treatment strategies. and provide remedial massage or implement a series of treatments.  Participants gain the necessary knowledge and expertise to develop professional relationships and networks, and to confidently communicate with other natural therapists and health professionals.

Duration:                                     12 months full time
                                                  18 months part time

Lectures and tutorials:                   Tues, Wed, and Thurs
                                                   9am to 4 pm as scheduled

Student Clinic hours:                      120 hrs (average 4 hrs per week)

External hours:                             200 hrs self directed off campus


Delivery: 1592 hours (contact hours and self-directed learning)
